Six Pillars of Health
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle Medicine helps you feel better and stay healthier by making small, steady changes to your everyday habits. It focuses on six key pillars: what you eat, how you move, how you handle stress, your sleep, your social connections, and cutting back on addictive behaviours.
It’s evidence-based, practical, and tailored to your life — tackling the root causes so improvements last. It is the foundation of your health and is designed to complement your regular medical care.
Using Lifestyle Medicine with Health Coaching .
Health coaching and Lifestyle Medicine go hand in hand.
Lifestyle Medicine is about shaping your everyday choices to prevent, manage or even turn around chronic health issues.
That’s where health coaching comes in. Instead of just being told what to do, coaching gives you the support, tools, and confidence to actually make those changes stick. It’s about finding what works for YOU and building habits that last.
Real change is more than just knowing what to do, it’s learning how to put it into practice in daily life.
Midlife: the moment to reset, recharge and to put you first.
Midlife can feel like a real turning point.
Midlife is often the time when health niggles start to show up, and unhealthy habits can quietly add up.
In Australia, the biggest health risks in this age group include heart disease and certain cancers — but the good news is, lifestyle changes at this stage can make a huge difference.
On top of that, midlife often comes with a lot of change and pressure:
Family shifts – kids leaving home, caring for ageing parents, or juggling both
Work stress – career demands, financial pressures, or feeling stuck
Body changes – menopause, muscle loss, shifts in body shape and energy
Life balance – so much focus on others that your own health slips down the list
All of this can make it easy to put your health last—but this is actually one of the best times to take charge.
Small steady changes now can protect your health for years to come.

FAQs
-
Health coaching is a collaborative approach where a coach supports a person in making long-lasting lifestyle changes to enhance their health and wellbeing.
-
A health coach is trained to focus on your physical and mental wellbeing - supporting you with nutrition, movement, stress, sleep, and lifestyle changes. A life coach is broader, helping with things like career, relationships, or personal growth. While life coaches may touch on health, health coaches specialise in wellness and behaviour change.
To make sure standards are met, many health coaches are registered with professional bodies such as HCANZA, which requires ongoing training and CPD to keep skills up to date.
-
Doctors diagnose and treat. Therapists dive deep into mental health. Health coaching focuses on practical lifestyle changes - like routines, habits, and mindset - that support your overall health alongside your regular medical care.
